Bee Fit Foods owner aims to grow her storefront beyond Houston

Billyssia Pierce isn’t afraid to admit she didn’t plan to become a chef — and cooking wasn’t her speciality. In fact, when she told her grandmother she was going to start a meal prep company called Bee Fit Foods, her grandmother scoffed.

 “My grandma is the chef of the family,” Pierce said. “When we told her I was starting the business, she was like ‘Billyssia’s starting a food business? She doesn’t know how to cook.’ It was really funny.”
Five years later, despite some initial struggles, Bee Fit Foods has grown. The company, which sells food online and in a storefront, recently opened its second location at the Exxon Mobile campus in Spring. It’s original location is just inside the Loop at 9555 S. Main St.

The Houston Business Journal spoke with Pierce about her background, what got her into healthy eating and the state of her business.
